Death:
James died on 18 August 1878 at 55 Swinbrooke Road, Kensington due to Natural Decay.

Marriages:
James appears to have married at least 4 times maybe 5 times. The details for his first marriage to Hannah are unknown but presumably were before his first child, Jane was born in St Pancras in 1809. There is a possible second marriage found but as yet not attributed to our James. That was to Ann Sutton in Hackney in 1818. If this marriage is for our James then Hannah died before 1818 but only the baptism records for the later children will be able to prove this. As yet they are unfound.

James apparently married Martha Looker in St John, Hackney in 1831. We believe this to be our James because her death certificate of 1842 describes her as wife of James Traies, Tin Plate Worker. She died in Greyhound Row in Kensington.

James then married Jane Berry in November of 1842 at Paddington. He was a widower and again a Tin Plate Worker. Curiously he described his father Samuel Traies as a gentleman which does not fit with his death certificate which had Tinker as occupation. It appears that Samuel worked in the Cloth industry that was a common occupation in Exeter at that time.

James’s last marriage was to Mary Jones in 1857 in Paddington. Again he was a Tin Plate Worker living in Moscow Road. This time his father’s occupation is Draper.
