Hugh Vincent

The following will I have been as yet unable to definitely tie in with a Hugh on my family tree.



I Hugh Vincent of Cowfold in the County of Sussex Gent being in good health of body and of sound and perfect mind and memory (praised be God) doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament my writing in manner and forem following First and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Allmighty God my Creator hoping through the Merritts of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ to receive a full pardon of all my Sins and as to my worldly Estate I give and dispose thereof as ffolloweth Inprimis I give and devise all those my Lands and premisses lying and being in the parish of Oving in the Said County of Sussex commonly called or knowne by the name of Abblands or by what other name or names soever the same or any part thereof are or is called or knowne until my Son John Vincent and to his heirs and assignes forever upon condition Nevertheless that he the said John Vincent my son Relinquish his right and Tills to the sume of two hundred pounds of lawfull money of Great Brittaine that I had heretofore ordered and appointed him to have and receive and whereas my said son John Vincent now stands indebted unto me by bond in the sume of Fifty pounds of lawfull money of Great Brittaine now my will and meaning is that if he Refuses to receive the aforesaid two hundred pounds of lawfull money of Great Brittaine that he shall deteyne and keep in his hands to his owne use forever the said Fifty pounds of lawfull money of Great Brittaine so due unto me on Bond as aforesaid besides the bonds given by me unto him as aforesaid Item I doe give and bequeath unto my Said Son John Vincent the Further sume of Fifty pounds of lawfull money of Great Brittaine upon his refusing to have and receive the said sume of two hundred pounds as aforesaid to be paid unto him within twelve months next after my decease by my Executor thereafter named Item all the rest of my Estate whatsoever both real and personall lands moneys goods and chattells I doe give devise and bequeath unto my son Richard Vincent his heirs and assignes forever whome I make full Executor of this my last Will and Testament desiring him to pay and discharge all my lawfull debts and ffinanciall Charges In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the Seven and twentyeth day of January in the fourth year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord George by the State of God of Great Brittaine Ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the ffaith Anno Domini 1717 Hugh Vincent signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator to be his last will and Testament in the presence of Mary Wookes Edward Steele John Steele

This is A Codicill Annexed to and made part of the last will and testament of me Hugh Vincent now of Alfriston in the County of Sussex Gent Whereas on the marriage of my Son John Vincent with Mary his present Wife I did by good Assurances and conveyances in the law convey settle and Assure all that Messuage or Tenement Barnes Buildings Gardens Orchards and Lands  with their appurtenances called or knowne by the names of Fryland Frenches and Taylors or by whatsoever other name or names the Same or any part thereof are or is called or knowne Situate lying or being in Shermanbury in the said County of Sussex and conteyning by Estimation Eighty and six acre either more or less to the use of my Said Son John Vincent (after the solemnisation of the said Marriage) for term of his life and after his decease to such further uses as in the said Conveyances and limitted and declared and soe and in such manner that in case my Said Son John Vincent shall dye without Sons the reversion of the said premisses is limitted to the use of me and my Sons but subject to the payment of such annuityes or yearly Rents as in the Said Conveyances are mentioned and Expressed now I doe hereby give and devise unto my Son Richard Vincent and his heirs all and Singular the said messuage or Tenement barnes buildings Gardens Orchards Lands and premisses with their appurtenances and the revertion and revertions remainder and remainders thereof to have and to hold the Said Messuages and Tenements and premisses and the revertion and revertions remainder and remainders thereof unto my Said Son Richard Vincent his heirs and Assignes forever but Subject to such Estates and Charges as in the said Conveyances are limitted mentioned or Expressed in writings whereof I the said Hugh Vincent have hereunto set my hand and Seal this seventh day of October in the Eleventh year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord George by the State of God King of Great Brittain Ffrance and Ireland Defender of the ffaith Anno Domini 1724 Hugh Vincent Signed Sealed published and declared by the said Hugh Vincent in the presence of us who subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto in the presence of the said Hugh Vincent John Wood Stephen Pirese Thomas Stephens
