George Pilbeam farmed there from sometime in the 1840s to his death in 1857. In the 1851 census he is described as a Farmer with 120 acres employing 4 labourers.

He died in January 1857 and an Auction was held of Farm Equipment on 26 September 1857 and furniture and household goods on 28 September 1857 by Order of the Executors. Some of the goods were obviously bought by his own family and the amount of money raised was £377 6 11 1/2.
